Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Servings: 12 biscuits

Equipment

  • Glass Mixing Bowl medium to large size
  • 12-inch Cast Iron Skillet or baking sheet - see notes for temp and time adjustments
  • Measuring Cup

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 stick butter melted, slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Add flour, baking powder, and salt to a glass mixing bowl and stir together.
  • Pour in the melted butter and milk. Mix until incorporated well and a sticky dough forms.
  • Using a large spoon, scoop out the biscuit dough and drop in to cast iron skillet. You should get roughly 12 biscuits from this recipe.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes, or until biscuits are slightly golden brown on top. Brush top of biscuits with additional melted butter halfway through cook time if desired.

Notes

If using a baking sheet instead of a cast iron skillet, you'll need to adjust the temp down to 425 and cook time to 9-11 minutes.
Variations:
Prefer a sweet biscuit? Try adding a tablespoon or two of sugar to the recipe.
Another variation is to add shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and parsley.
You can also drop these biscuits on top of a delicious pot pie filling to create a "crust".
