What You’ll Need to Make Soup in a Jar
Aside from the needed ingredients, you’ll want to make sure you have these supplies on hand.
- Mason Jars – Depending on the recipe you’re using or the size of the family you’re feeding, you may want to use quart sized or pint sized mason jars. I prefer wide mouth jars, but that’s just personal preference. Oh, and don’t feel the need to buy new. You can often thrift beautiful food safe jars to save money and add a little character.
- Tags/Labels – You’ll want to label the jar and include the step-by-step cooking instructions. You can do this a variety of ways. Print out the instructions that are included in the recipe and attached them to the jar. Or use these cute little labels or sticker tags to handwrite the instructions for a nice added touch.
- Dehydrator (Optional) – Now this one is totally optional, as you can typically find all of the ingredients at the grocery store. But if you’re wanting to use some of your homegrown ingredients and herbs in the soup mixes, you’ll need to break of the dehydrator to make them shelf stable.
