The Best Christian Podcasts to Study the Bible for Women
These podcasts are an excellent resource to help women study the Bible. From the newest believer to those older in the faith, podcasts are a great way to deepen your Biblical understanding.
Podcasts have been an excellent way for me to not only hear the Word of God, but to grow in my understanding of it.
I have been able to take so much of what I have learned in podcasts and use it to teach other women in group studies.
I’ve been able to recall the things I’ve learned from a bible teacher in a podcast when I am reading scripture for myself.
I find myself recommending podcasts to my friends and family all the time, so I thought I would compile a list of the best Christian podcasts I’ve found!

Why You Should Listen to Bible Study Podcasts
Time to Study
Do you have the desire to study the Bible more in depth, but can’t seem to find a good place to start?
Or maybe you’re struggling to find the time to dig deeper? Maybe you feel like it’s not something you are capable of doing?
Podcasts are a great way to consume God’s Word. You can listen to these while you’re doing the dishes, during your daily commute, while you’re exercising, or when you’re up at night for the third time with the baby.
And all from the phone or computer that you’re reading this very post on.
Free Bible Resource
Not to mention that Podcast episodes are generally free! Information that would have once only been available to those able to attend seminary, is now available to you for free.
Speaking of free Bible Study resources, be sure to check out the Bible study printables I offer. Like this Daily Bible Reading Checklist that helps you track your progress though the Bible, chapter by chapter. Or this printable on the Attributes of God, or free SOAP Method Bible Study printables!
Use them as a Discipleship Tool
In our digital age, almost everyone is on their phone consuming content. Which makes sharing podcasts a great way to reach out to those you may be discipling!
If you hear a good podcast episode and think it could be helpful to someone you know, you can share the link with them through text.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been blessed by a podcast episode shared with me by a friend who knows my struggles. And vice versa, I’ve had friends ask for good podcasts when they are struggling.
My Favorite Paid Bible Study Resources
All you need to study the Bible is the Bible itself! But if you are looking for any additional reading resources or even a group Bible study, here are some that I’ve found to be extremely helpful.
- Seamless : Understanding the Bible as One Complete Story by Angie Smith (bible study)
- Better by Jen Wilkin (bible study)
- The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer (book)
- Essential Truths of The Christian Faith by R.C. Sproul (book)
- A Little Book on The Christian Life by Jon Calvin (book)
List of Top Christian Podcasts
1.Knowing Faith
“The Christian faith is not mindless or irrational.”
This podcast is a great way for anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of the Bible. Hosted by Jen Wilkin, JT English and Kyle Worley, you’ll get to hear the 3 friends discuss and teach Gods Word.
The episodes touch on different theological topics, but don’t let that scare you away if it sounds too complex. The hosts, as well as their guests (including some of the best teachers of our day) do an excellent job at pausing to explain the terms that an average Bible reader isn’t accustomed to hearing.
Every season a book of the Bible is selected to be studied. The weekly podcast episodes then deep dive into one section of scripture at a time.
You’ll get church history as well as information on the context in which the stories were written. All of the details surrounding the original audience really help scripture come alive and make more sense.
I love the authenticity of the conversations here. Three friends, teaching and learning God’s Word together.
I also love that they don’t always agree on everything. An excellent example of how we can disagree on some details, yet still work together to further the spread of the Gospel!
This particular podcast has taught me so much. As someone without any formal theological training, I feel as though I have a better grasp on basic concepts. I can see why theology matters – not just for scholars, but for every single follower of Christ.
2.The Bible Recap
Hosted by Tara-Leigh Cobble, this podcast is designed to take you through the entire Bible – from Old Testament all the way through the New Testament.
You will follow a 365-day reading plan that lays out what sections of scripture you need to read for that day. After reading the scriptures yourself, you then have a 5-10 minute daily podcast to listen to. Tara-Leigh will share a quick “recap” of what you just read, breaking it down with some contextual information as well as helpful tips to remembering details.
Each episode is wrapped up with a God Shot – where you can see how everything you just read points back to Him. This is so helpful in those passages that it isn’t always evident where God is in the story (some of the Old Testament books can be HARD).
You can find the reading plan within The Holy Bible app and set up reminders for your daily reading. And if you’re struggling to find the time to sit down and read the scriptures, let the app read it for you!
Another great thing about this resource, is that you can actually gift The Bible Recap book to someone who may not listen to podcasts. (Purchase it here!) I’ve gifted this book to two family members, and they have both enjoyed it so much.
The Bible Recap walked me through my first reading of the entire Bible. It took me more than the 365 days, but I prevailed.
I recommend this one to anyone who expresses interest in wanting to read the Bible all the way through.
3.Ask Pastor John
If you are looking for shorter podcast episodes that are still rich in wisdom, this one is a must listen!
You will find several new episodes each week. The episodes consist of a tough theological or pastoral question that is answered by John Piper.
And when I say tough, I do mean tough. A lot of these questions are things that we tend to shy away from. These are questions that can apply to how we ourselves are living our own lives or how we as Christians are to interact with the world.
There are even questions about general Biblical truths and theological concepts.
You’ll find episodes on “If God is Sovereign, Why Is His World Full Of Suffering?” and “Is Technology Holy or Worldy?”. The episodes frequently touch on current events, making it very relevant to your everyday life.
Even though some of these things may make us uncomfortable to think about, it is good to see how Gods Word can answer all of the hard things we are presented with in this fallen world.
4.Help Me Teach the Bible
Don’t let the name throw you off on this one. You may not be wanting to teach the Bible right now, but you can still learn so much through this podcast.
Hosted by Nancy Guthrie, she talks with the best Bible teachers and preachers who share their wisdom on how they teach the Bible. With guests like John Piper, David Platt, and so many others, this podcast is full of rich knowledge for Christian woman seeking to understand the Word of God.
The best part of this is that as you learn, you will be better equipped to go out and share. And the more the Word comes alive for you, the more you will desire to go out and teach.
Knowing the Word of God for ourselves is a beautiful thing. But sharing it with others is even more beautiful. And isn’t that the goal of the Christian life – to share the Good News with others!
5.Journey Women
Y’all…I LOVE this podcast for so many reasons. I think a huge part of it is because I am in a very similar season of life to the host and can relate to her struggles.
This one is hosted by Hunter Beless, a wife and momma, who is clearly passionate about encouraging Christian women in their faith. Hunter and her guests always encourage the listener to pick up their Bible and dig into the Word of God themselves.
You will find a new podcast weekly packed full of practical advice for every-day life. Hunter interviews guests from various walks of life.
The podcasts cover a wide range of topics, usually all falling under the “umbrella topic” for that season.
At the end of each episode, Hunter has her guests provide a few recommended resources for her listeners to check out. That alone has been so helpful in growing my collection of solid resources for Bible study.
Overall, there is just something so encouraging to hear how a fellow Christian woman is walking out her faith. The realness of this podcast is sure to encourage you to pick up your Bible (or your audio Bible) no matter what season of life you’re in!
6.She Reads Truth
If you are looking for something with more of a reading plan type structure to accompany it, you will love what the ladies over at She Reads Truth are doing!
Hosted by Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams, this is another podcast that brings in various guests to discuss the truths that you find in God’s Word.
You’ll find a good mix of episodes here – some covering topical ideas, while others are more focused on reading entire books in depth.
In addition to the physical study books that you can purchase from their website, you can also find the free reading plans! The plans vary in length, but they are always accompanied by a new weekly podcast episode.
I think what I love most about this podcast is that they do a great job of pulling related scriptures in from other sections of the Bible. You are able to see how there is one overarching story, all the way from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
Side note – they even have a “Kids Read Truth” and “He Reads Truth”. Be sure to check those websites out as well!
7.She Proves Faithful
Much like the Journeywomen podcast, this show is hosted by a fellow wife and momma who is trying to equip women to better understand their life as a Christian woman.
Lauren loves discussing Church history and teaching on how the Bible applies to current situations. The podcasts episodes are often full of quotes from those who have gone before us in the Christian walk.
And Lauren is sure to always provide the scripture references that her discussion was built of off.
Overall, if you want to support a fellow sister in Christ who is committed to equipping women in godly living, this is a good show to tune in to.
8. BibleProject
The crew over at BibleProject have made in-depth conversations about theology available to everyone through their podcast.
These episodes are often a bit longer, but they go deep into the details. You’ll find episodes across a huge range of Biblical topics.
I especially like the “why” or “what” episodes. We all have questions about the Bible. And I think these episodes help to explain some of the parts that tend to be more confusing.
9.Women’s Bible Study
This is a new to me podcast, but I definitely want to mention it here! Similar to the above recommendation, this podcast focuses in on Bible study.
The host wants women to see how their every day is tied to their faith Jesus. She wants us to see the importance in being in the Word of God daily.
Episode discussions cover a wide range of theological topics & everyday issues that arise. Episodes on end times, alcohol use, prayer and a whole multitude of other things.
I especially like the shorter format of these episodes. It makes it easy to listen in while washing dishes or making a drive to the store.
10.Not Your Momma’s Bible Study
“Whoever said the Bible is boring maybe never actually read it”.
That’s the quote the host uses to describe her podcast. And I totally agree with her!
The Bible is full of details and events that you may be surprised to find. And the host of this show, Chrystan Ferrell, is trying to show women that “Bible study was never meant to be boring”.
You’ll find seasons based on topics, like Women of Faith, but you’ll also find seasons focused in on specific books of the Bible.
While I love a good topical study, I think I’ll always prefer studying a full book at once.
11.The BEMA Podcast
This podcast is meant not only deepen your knowledge of Biblical text, but to also understand it in historical context.
But it’s not just so you can know. It’s meant to help us grow in discipleship – loving God & loving people.
The episodes are very well organized and laid out season by season. Which makes it easy for you to follow along, one episode at a time.
There you have it!
A list of the best Christian podcasts that I’ve found to be a huge help in studying The Bible. I hope you are able to find something here that encourages you in your journey!
Check out Not Your Mommas Bible study by Chrystan Ferrell. I love her so much.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I have The Bible Recap book, on hardback. It’s a great resource. I highly recommend—in the most well-intentioned, crazy stranger lady kind of way—The BEMA Podcast. And, starting all the way back at episode 0. Amazing instruction provided by a Jewish follower of Jesus (affectionately called Rabz) and his students. Changed my relationship with the Text.
I’ve never heard of the BEMA podcast – thanks for the recommendation!
One of my favorites is the Revive Our Hearts podcast with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth!
I definitely need to check this one out. I didn’t know she had a podcast!
I listened through one called Devoted from Athey creek Church. It was fantastic! Very rooted in God’s word. To God be all the glory though it, not of themselves. That’s their hearts anyways. Since I’ve finished listening I’ve needed to find others similar. I’ll look to check some of these out. Thank you ?
