Do you have the desire to study the Bible more in depth, but can’t seem to find a good place to start? Or maybe you’re struggling to find the time to dig deeper? Maybe you feel like it’s not something you are capable of doing?
Podcasts are a great way to consume God’s Word. You can listen to these while you’re doing the dishes, during your daily commute, while you’re exercising, or when you’re up at night for the third time with the baby. And all from the phone or computer that you’re reading this very post on.
Podcasts have been an excellent way for me to not only hear the Word of God, but to grow in my understanding of it. I have been able to take so much of what I have learned in podcasts and use it to teach other women in group studies. I’ve been able to recall the things I’ve learned from a bible teacher in a podcast when I am reading scripture for myself.
I find myself recommending podcasts to my friends and family all the time, so I thought I would compile a list of the best Christian podcasts I’ve found!

“The Christian faith is not mindless or irrational.”
This podcast is a great way for anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of the Bible. Hosted by Jen Wilkin, JT English and Kyle Worley, you’ll get to hear the 3 friends discuss and teach Gods Word.
The episodes touch on different theological topics, but don’t let that scare you away if it sounds too complex. The hosts, as well as their guests (including some of the best teachers of our day) do an excellent job at pausing to explain the terms that an average Bible reader isn’t accustomed to hearing.
Every season a book of the Bible is selected to be studied. The weekly podcast episodes then deep dive in to one section of scripture at a time. You’ll get church history as well as information on the context in which the stories were written. All of the details surrounding the original audience really help scripture come alive and make more sense.
I love the authenticity of the conversations here. Three friends, teaching and learning God’s Word together. I also love that they don’t always agree on everything. An excellent example of how we can disagree on some details, yet still work together to further the spread of the Gospel!
This particular podcast has taught me so much. As someone without any formal theological training, I feel as though I have a better grasp on basic concepts. I can see why theology matters – not just for scholars, but for every single follower of Christ.

The Bible Recap
The Bible Recap on Apple Podcasts
Website : The Bible Recap
Hosted by Tara-Leigh Cobble, this podcast is designed to take you through the entire Bible – from Old Testament all the way through the New Testament.
You will follow a 365-day reading plan that lays out what sections of scripture you need to read for that day. After reading the scriptures yourself, you then have a 5-10 minute daily podcast to listen to. Tara-Leigh will share a quick “recap” of what you just read, breaking it down with some contextual information as well as helpful tips to remembering details.
Each episode is wrapped up with a God Shot – where you can see how everything you just read points back to Him. This is so helpful in those passages that it isn’t always evident where God is in the story (some of the Old Testament books can be HARD).
You can find the reading plan within The Holy Bible app and set up reminders for your daily reading. And if you’re struggling to find the time to sit down and read the scriptures, let the app read it for you!
Another great thing about this resource, is that you can actually gift The Bible Recap book to someone who may not listen to podcasts. (Purchase it here!) I’ve gifted this book to two family members, and they have both enjoyed it so much.
The Bible Recap walked me through my first reading of the entire Bible. It took me more than the 365 days, but I prevailed. I recommend this one to anyone who expresses interest in wanting to read the Bible all the way through.

If you are looking for shorter podcast episodes that are still rich in wisdom, this one is a must listen!
You will find several new episodes each week. The episodes consist of a tough theological or pastoral question that is answered by John Piper.
And when I say tough, I do mean tough. A lot of these questions are things that we tend to shy away from. These are questions that can apply to how we ourselves are living our own lives or how we as Christians are to interact with the world. There are even questions about general Biblical truths and theological concepts.
You’ll find episodes on “If God is Sovereign, Why Is His World Full Of Suffering?” and “Is Technology Holy or Worldy?”. The episodes frequently touch on current events, making it very relevant to your everyday life.
Even though some of these things may make us uncomfortable to think about, it is good to see how Gods Word can answer all of the hard things we are presented with in this fallen world.
Help Me Teach The Bible

Don’t let the name throw you off on this one. You may not be wanting to teach the Bible right now, but you can still learn so much through this podcast.
Hosted by Nancy Guthrie, she talks with the best Bible teachers and preachers who share their wisdom on how they teach the Bible. With guests like John Piper, David Platt, and so many others, this podcast is full of rich knowledge for Christian woman seeking to understand the Word of God.
The best part of this is that as you learn, you will be better equipped to go out and share. And the more the Word comes alive for you, the more you will desire to go out and teach. Knowing the Word of God for ourselves is a beautiful thing. But sharing it with others is even more beautiful. And isn’t that the goal of the Christian life – to share the Good News with others!
Journey Women

Y’all…I LOVE this podcast for so many reasons. I think a huge part of it is because I am in a very similar season of life to the host and can relate to her struggles. I’ll try not to gush too much, but…
This one is hosted by Hunter Beless, a wife and momma, who is clearly passionate about encouraging Christian women in their faith. Hunter and her guests always encourage the listener to pick up their Bible and dig into the Word of God themselves.
You will find a new podcast weekly packed full of practical advice for every-day life. Hunter interviews guests from various walks of life. You’ll hear from Christian author Jackie Hill Perry, Bible teacher Jen Wilkin, and theologian Dr. Michael Kruger. The podcasts cover a wide range of topics, usually all falling under the “umbrella topic” for that season.
While this plan does not come with a set reading plan, it does address many different biblical concepts, some of which are sure to be new to you. At the end of each episode, Hunter has her guests provide a few recommended resources for her listeners to check out. That alone has been so helpful in growing my collection of solid resources for Bible study.
Overall, there is just something so encouraging to hear how a fellow Christian woman is walking out her faith. The realness of this podcast is sure to encourage you to pick up your Bible (or your audio Bible) no matter what season of life you’re in!

If you are looking for something with more of a reading plan type structure to accompany it, you will love what the ladies over at She Reads Truth are doing!
Hosted by Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams, this is another podcast that brings in various guests to discuss the truths that you find in God’s Word. You’ll find a good mix of episodes here – some covering topical ideas, while others are more focused on reading entire books in depth.
In addition to the physical study books that you can purchase from their website, you can also find the free reading plans! The plans vary in length, but they are always accompanied by a new weekly podcast episode.
I think what I love most about this podcast is that they do a great job of pulling related scriptures in from other sections of the Bible. You are able to see how there is one overarching story, all the way from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
Side note – they even have a “Kids Read Truth” and “He Reads Truth”. Be sure to check those websites out as well!
There you have it!
A list of the best Christian podcasts that I’ve found to be a huge help in studying The Bible. I hope you are able to find something here that encourages you in your journey!
