How a Grocery Shopping List Helps
Having an organized list of groceries helps in a few different ways.
A Shopping List Saves Time
First, it is a huge timesaving tool. By organizing your grocery list items by category, you know what to get in each section of the store.
While you’re in the frozen food section, you can make sure you get everything you need on the first pass.
No more going from one end of the store to the other!
A Grocery List Helps Save Money
Second, it also helps you stick to a food budget. Since you know exactly what you need, you’ll no longer have to make those spur of the moment decisions.
Stick to the well planned grocery list, and you’ll stick to your grocery budget!
A Shopping List Keeps You Organized
How many times have you went to cook a meal, only to realize you’re missing an important ingredient?
By using a weekly meal planner alongside your weekly grocery list, this is less likely to happen.
You know what you need, when you need it, and you can get it all in one trip to the store.
How to Use Your Free Printable Grocery Shopping Lists
Print it Out & Customize
Start by printing the list found out the bottom of this post. You can download the pdf version as is, or download the Canva template to customize.
Print the list in color for easier categorizing. Use the prefilled categories or fill the categories in based on your needs.
If you need a new printer, I can’t recommend the Epson EcoTank enough! I use it for all of my business, personal, and homeschooling needs!
Add the Items
After taking a quick inventory of what you have on hand, and looking over your weekly meal planner, start completing your detailed list by category.
Make notes that may be helpful to your shopping experience. Things like aisle number, estimated prices, or specific brands come to mind.
Head to the grocery store (or your grocery app) and check your items off one by one.
Tips for Using Your Free Printable Grocery List
Make it Meet YOUR Needs
The first step for using your free grocery list is to make sure it fits your needs. If the pre-filled categories don’t work – scrap them and use categories that work for your shopping trip!
Create an Essential Grocery List
If you’re using the editable version of this printable, consider inputting some of the items you buy every shopping trip. This will create a basic grocery list foundation that you can add to.
See What You Have
Check the pantry first! Checking for what you already have on hand eliminates you from buying duplicate items. This cuts down on extra cost, and you waste less food by using items before they expire.
Check Your Meal Plan
Always look over your menu plans to make sure you have tall necessary ingredients on your printable list. This will cut back on extra trips tot he store through the week!
Keep it Centralized
Keep the printed weekly grocery list in a central location in the house. As you or a family member come across something you need, it can quickly be added to the list.
