I’ve shared on here before how you can make lattes at home without an espresso machine. And that process still works well if you only have your coffee maker.
But I was recently introduced to instant espresso and I am hooked! And since it is officially Autumn, I shamelessly made a batch of homemade pumpkin spice syrup and mixed me a drink (an iced coffee drink that is).
And as I’m sitting here enjoying a homemade iced pumpkin spice latte, I knew I had to hop on here and share the recipe. So, here you go!

Iced Latte vs Iced Coffee
The main difference between these two popular drinks is that an iced latte is made with espresso shots, while iced coffee is made with brewed coffee. Lattes also tend to be creamier since they have more milk than iced coffee. Both drinks can be customized with different syrups and creams to achieve the flavor you want.
Equipment Needed
There’s not much you need to whip up your copycat PSL at home. You just need:
- Cup to drink out of
- Cup to mix it in

How to Make Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte at Home
Start by adding 2 ounces of warm water to a glass or cup. Stir in 2 teaspoons of instant espresso. You can adjust the amount of espresso used to your liking or caffeine preferences.
Once the espresso is dissolved, add in 3-4 tablespoons of pumpkin spice syrup (add a couple, taste, and add more if you desire). Top with another 6-8 ounces of your milk of choice. Stir to combine.
Add ice to your glass or cup you’ll be drinking out of. Pour latte mixture over ice and enjoy! Can sprinkle with extra pumpkin pie spice if you choose.

Make Pumpkin Spice Syrup at Home
Making your own homemade coffee syrups at home is so incredibly easy. Start by combining 1 cup of water with 3/4 cup of granulated sugar of choice, 3 tablespoons of canned pumpkin puree, 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce to simmer, stirring frequently. Continue simmering and stirring until sugar is dissolved – about 5 minutes.
Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the pumpkin puree out of the syrup. Store syrup in a glass jar or bottle in the fridge.
