Free Christmas Morning Time Plans for Your Homeschool

Save For Later!

December is such a special time in our homeschool. Every year, I find myself craving a slower rhythm—one filled with more books, more margin, and more moments that allow my children (and myself!) to feel the joy and anticipation of Christ’s birth.

This year, I decided to create something I’ve wanted for a long time: a simple Christmas morning time plan that families can use throughout the month of December. And the best part? I’m offering it completely free.

These plans are gentle, easy to follow, and designed to help you savor this season rather than feel overwhelmed by it. Whether you’re a seasoned homeschooler or brand new to morning time, this guide brings together Scripture, music, poetry, art, and hands-on projects into one cohesive and meaningful four-week plan.

What’s Inside the Christmas Morning Time Plans

This four-week guide was created with simplicity, beauty, and Christ-centered learning in mind. Each week includes:

Daily Bible Reading Plan (5 Days a Week)

The month is divided into four themes that follow the biblical Christmas narrative:

  • Week 1: Preparing the Way
  • Week 2: Jesus’ Birth Announced
  • Week 3: Jesus Is Born
  • Week 4: Wise Men & The Hope We Have

The readings are short, rich, and easy to complete alongside your regular school rhythm (or in place of it, if you’re taking December lighter).

One Hymn Per Week

Each week features a classic Christmas hymn that you can enjoy together as a family. Simply search the title on Youtube to find the version your family prefers.

One Poem Per Week

You’ll find simple, seasonal poems—some cozy winter classics and some with a gentle Christmas theme. These are ideal for memory work, copywork, or simply enjoying together.

Weekly Scripture Memory + Printable Cards

One memory verse each week corresponds to the Bible readings.
You’ll also get a set of printable scripture memory cards with a soft vintage Christmas design—perfect for displaying around the house.

Weekly Recipe

Each week includes a fun, kid-friendly holiday recipe you can make together:

  • Cinnamon Rolls (my favorite soft and gooey recipe!)
  • Hot Cocoa with Homemade Whipped Cream
  • Mini Christmas Tree Pizzas
  • Gingerbread Cookies

Each recipe is hyperlinked directly to a trusted, simple recipe—so you can click and bake without searching.

Two Art Prints Each Week

You’ll find:

  • One religious artwork celebrating the Advent or Nativity story
  • One cozy, vintage winter piece to add seasonal beauty

These are included as full-page prints so you can rotate them on your wall, clipboard, or morning basket.

Picture Book List

A curated list of Christmas and winter picture books so you can choose books that fit your family’s style. Here are some of our family favorites.

How We’re Using This in Our Homeschool

During December, we like to slow way down. Since we homeschool year-round, we can easily scale our schedule back during busy seasons. We continue with reading practice for my emerging readers, as well as math fact practice – just to keep things fresh. We also continue with a little handwriting or copywork practice (I created these free Advent copywork pages).

But the rest of our learning time becomes centered around this morning time plan. Our schedule will look something like this:

  • Daily Bible Reading
  • Practice scripture memory verse
  • Do daily lessons (reading practice, math fact review, etc.)
  • Select one or two of the enrichment subjects for the day (poem, hymn, artist study, picture book, recipe)
  • Start or continue working on handicraft selection
  • Read aloud as a family after lunch or in the evening.

This simple plan allows us to have a daily rhythm that isn’t too intense during a busy time of the year, but also keeps us intentional with our time.
